Sand Refill Day - Sat 4/27 - 9am-12pm
Thanks to everyone who volunteered to fill the sandbox. This year 2 trucks came with 14 cubic yards of sand, and it took about 3 hours to sift and wheelbarrow the sand to the sandbox.
Children's Clothing Recycle/Resale - Sat 5/11 - 10am-1pm
Need to do some spring cleaning of your kids' closet and get a start on the next season's clothing at a bargain? You can do this while supporting the Indian Road Playground Sand Fund. Donate clean children's clothing for Friends of Indian Road Playground to resale on Sat 5/11 at Isham Park. We will set up along the walking path between Broadway and Park Terrace West just off Isham Street (near the Farmer's Market). Contact us to arrange drop-off.
Garden Day (It's My Park Day) - Sun 5/19 - 1pm-3pm
We have plants from Partnerships for Parks and NYC Parks department for the garden behind the playground. Join us for this family-friendly event. Come in work clothes and bring a hat! Additional information will be posted in late April. If you cannot attend this day, stay tuned for more gardening events.
Volunteers Welcome
We need additional volunteers to help plan and organize new, exciting activities for the neighborhood in the coming year. We need people to:
- organize and promote events
- take pictures
- provide translations on flyers
- update the website

If you have visited the Indian Road Playground, played with your children there and socialized with other parents/families, then you are already a ‘member’. The FIRP will provide funds for the replacement of sand for the sand box in coming years, as we have done since the group’s inception in 1993. But we need your help raising funds for the sand and to pay for additional playground events, such as the opening festivities.
